Nvidia follows on the heels of its GeForce GTX 580 powerhouse with the more affordable - and less power-hungry - GeForce GTX 570.
Graphics developer Nvidia rolled out the GeForce GTX 580 last month to claims that it was the “world’s fastest” GPU, and now the company is following up with the less pricey GeForce GTX 570, a stripped down version of the GTX 580 that still offers high performance, but consumes less power, runs more quietly, and offers 480 CUDA cores.
Nvidia touts the GTX 570 as offering the world’s fastest DirectX 11 performance in its class—up to 128 faster than the “closest competitive product”—sporting 480 CUDA cores running at 1.46 GHz, a 732 MHz graphics clock, and a whopping 1.25 GB of GDDR5 graphics memory. The GTX 570 also supports Nvidia 3D Vision for 3D-enabled games and content (glasses required!) and Nvidia Surround technology—ambitious gamers can also combine two GTX 570 cards using Nvidia SLI technology for a serious bump in graphics performance. While the GTX 570 doesn’t have the power requirements of its bigger brother, it still needs two 6-pin power connectors and gamers will want at least a 550 watt power supply to try it out.
The GeForce GTX 570 is available now from the usual slate of Nvidia partners (including ASUS, Gainward, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, Zotac, and many others) for a suggested price of $349.
